Why don’t you link to a page when you add menu titles?Adding a Menu Title to a WordPress Menu without Linking to a Page

Each menu item must be linked to a page or custom link by default in the WordPress menu. However, you may want to give sub-menus a title without tying them to a specific page when establishing a dropdown menu.

We’ll show you how to add titles to your WordPress menu without linking to a page in this article.

Why don’t you link to a page when you add menu titles?

WordPress provides numerous customization possibilities for your website, allowing you to reach your target audience while also providing an excellent user experience.

A well-structured navigational menu is essential for providing a pleasant user experience on your WordPress site. It allows people to quickly locate content and different pages on your website.

By default, WordPress expects each menu to include a link to a page or a custom link when you add menu names. In some cases, though, you may wish to display a menu title but not a link to a page.

You can have a categories dropdown, for example, where the title text for the menu is ‘categories,’ but you don’t need to add a link. Users just open a sub-menu in the dropdown when they click on categories.

Let’s have a look at how to add a title to your WordPress menu without linking to a page.

Adding a Menu Title to a WordPress Menu without Linking to a Page

The first step is to add a new menu item to your existing menu. You may do this in your WordPress admin panel by navigating to Appearance » Menus.

The next step is to create a custom link. Under the ‘Add menu items’ area, you’ll find the ‘Custom Links’ possibilities.

If you don’t see Custom Links, go to the upper right corner of the screen and click the ‘Screen Options’ option. Then, from the drop-down menu, select ‘Custom Links.’

WordPress has a number of screen choices.

You’ll then need to give it a label or a menu title. Enter the hashtag (#) symbol in the URL area and click the ‘Add to Menu’ button.

Add a custom link menu item to the menu.

The menu item you created has now been added to the WordPress menu.

Then, to update this menu item, click on the dropdown arrow next to this custom link. Remove the “# sign from the URL box and save the menu by clicking the ‘Save Menu’ button.

Remove the hashtag symbol from the menu and save it.

You can add submenus to this menu item and link them to any website you choose, or you can input a custom link. If you go to your WordPress blog now, you’ll see a menu item that’s missing a link.
